Getting There The staging area for the "minibus express," private vans which serve the coast, is in front of the port terminal (near the state bus station) on Kutev St. Destinations include: Varna, Sunny Beach, Nessebar, Pomorie, Sozopol, Tsarevo, and Malko Turnovo. Private vans charge the same low fares as their state-run counterparts, but rather than adhering to fixed schedules, they operate according to supply and demand, departing when full. Private bus companies, such as Group, ETAP and Kaleya, provide modern coach service several times a day to and from Sofia (US$7). The railway station is located on Garov ploshtad near the port; seven trains a day (two of them express) connect with Sofia via two different routes and take 6-7 hours for the 450 km trip. Get tickets (first class costs US$11 RT; $7 OW) in advance from the Railway bureau (#106 Alexandrovska) to avoid last-minute lines and language hassles at the station. Bourgas international airport has two daily flights to/from Sofia taking about an hour and costing $45 one way, $85 round-trip; city bus #15 connects with the railway station.
